Cremona music festivals receive international recognition and seasonal updates

The Il Monteverdi Festival di Cremona has been named a finalist for the 2026 International Opera Awards in the Festival category. The 43rd edition of the festival, held in June 2026, featured over 30 events across various locations in Cremona, including the Teatro Ponchielli, historic courtyards, and churches. The program included a gala concert with Cecilia Bartoli and operatic productions such as Claudio Monteverdi’s ‘L’incoronazione di Poppea’. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 21, 2026, in Vienna.

Separately, the STRADIVARI Festival, organized by the Museo del Violino, is resuming its autumn season. The festival focuses on the dialogue between historical repertoire and contemporary music. Upcoming performances include the Wiener Concert-Verein and a project titled ‘Barocco & Other Stories’ featuring countertenor Raffaele Pe. The festival season will culminate in the STRADIVARI Memorial Day on December 18.
