Cremona to host civil society and municipal leaders for peace summit

Civil society associations and municipal administrators will meet in Cremona on Friday, October 30, 2026, to discuss the theme “Building Communities of Peace.” The event, held at Sala Zanoni, marks the first time in 13 years that local groups and municipal leaders have engaged in such a comprehensive dialogue regarding peace commitments within the province.

The meeting aims to promote a culture of nonviolence and revitalize the role of local authorities in addressing global conflicts. Participants will discuss the redirection of public resources from military spending toward essential sectors such as education, healthcare, the environment, and social welfare. The initiative seeks to establish new forms of cooperation between associations and administrators regarding disarmament, human rights, and environmental care.

Organizers include various groups such as Amnesty International, ANPI Cremona, Amici di Emmaus ODV, and Pax Christi Cremona, among others. The assembly serves as an initial step in a broader effort to foster local engagement with global security and peace-building issues.
