Crescent Beach duck race raises nearly $20,000 for marine rescue

Ducktona 5000 marine search and rescue fundraiser Crescent Beach South Surrey

The Ducktona 5000 duck race held at Crescent Beach raised nearly $20,000 to support the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 5. On September 12, organizers released 3,750 yellow ducks into a sheltered course to compete for prizes.

Top sponsors received awards, including a $1,000 cash prize for the winning duck, awarded to Darren Bridge. The event saw high participation, with physical tickets selling out and Tim Charles of the Crescent Beach Marina purchasing all remaining online ticket ducks to ensure they could participate in the race.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will assist volunteer crews in maintaining water safety efforts.
