Crescenzo Marino to face new trial after acquittal annulled

The Italian Court of Cassation has annulled the acquittal of Crescenzo Marino, the son of Camorra boss Gennaro Marino, known as ‘McKay’. The ruling requires a new second-degree trial to be held at the Naples Court of Appeal.

Marino, a childhood friend of the rapper Geolier, is accused of leading a criminal clan active in the Case Celesti area of Secondigliano. Investigators allege he managed the group's operations and oversaw the collection of proceeds from drug trafficking.

The legal proceedings have seen significant shifts: Marino was initially sentenced to ten years in prison in August 2024, but the Naples Court of Appeal overturned this verdict with a full acquittal in October 2025. Following an appeal by the General Prosecutor, the Supreme Court has now ordered the case to be reopened. A date for the new trial has yet to be set.
