Crescia di Gubbio seeks European IGP status

The traditional bread known as Crescia di Gubbio is currently pursuing Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) status. This European certification aims to protect the product by linking it to the specific traditions, reputation, and territory of Gubbio, Italy.

Mayor Vittorio Fiorucci announced that a public hearing is scheduled for December 17 at Palazzo Pretorio. The local administration is working to connect the cultural significance of the bread with the study of the Iguvine Tablets, which are candidates for the UNESCO Memory of the World program. The production specifications for the IGP status define the bread's specific shape, dimensions, and traditional preparation methods.
