Céret pottery market features Japanese craftsmanship

The pottery market in Céret featured a diverse range of creators, including Japanese ceramicist Yasuaki Takeda. Takeda, representing his Kobo Yas workshop from Takarazuka, showcased pieces utilizing traditional techniques such as shinogi, where clay is incised with a blade, and dorouchi, which involves applying clay with a brush and hammering it to create patterns.

His collection included tea ceremony bowls, incense holders, and mortars, all fired in an anagama tunnel kiln. Other participating artisans displayed various styles, including Gallo-Roman sigillata techniques, colorful utilitarian wares, and translucent porcelain lamps.
