Crete authorities investigate unauthorized medical practices

Authorities in Crete are investigating reports of unauthorized medical and aesthetic practices following the death of Giorgos Mazonakis. The investigations, centered in Heraklion and Chania, focus on whether individuals are performing medical procedures without the required professional qualifications.

In Heraklion, the Medical Association is examining the activities of a retired dentist who offers services online such as bio-tuning, chronovelonism, and colon hydrotherapy. The Association's president, Alexandros Patrianakos, stated that they will follow legal procedures to determine if these services constitute medical acts, which could lead to charges of practicing medicine without a license. The retired dentist has defended her actions, claiming she follows a ‘Hippocratic approach’ and that her hydrotherapy is equivalent to an enema.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has announced that an investigation will be requested regarding these matters.
