Crete: Fourth body found in one week near Gavdos and Sfakia

A fourth body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered on Saturday afternoon, October 31, in the maritime area near Loutro, Sfakia, south of Crete. The identity and gender of the deceased remain unknown, as do the specific circumstances of the death.

This discovery marks the fourth such incident recorded within a single week in the waters south of Crete, specifically near Gavdos and Sfakia. Previous incidents include a body found on October 30 at Potamos beach on Gavdos, a body found on October 28 near Agia Roumeli, and a male body found on October 24 east of Gavdos.

While the frequency of these discoveries has raised questions regarding a potential shipwreck on the migration route from Libya to Crete, authorities have not officially confirmed if these four cases are linked to a single event.
