Crete hosts APOCOSMOS photography exhibition in Heraklion
The photography exhibition ‘APOCOSMOS – Outside the world and time: Sfakian Madares, the Wild West of Crete’ has opened at the historic Church of St. Peter of the Dominicans in Heraklion. The exhibition, featuring the work of journalist and photographer Giorgos Patroudakis, showcases the mountainous landscapes of the Sfakian Madares within the White Mountains.
As part of the post-festival activities for the Festival of Crete 2026, the event is co-organized by the Region of Crete, the Archbishopric of Crete, the St. Demetrios Parish, the Heraklion Ephorate of Antiquities, and the Municipality of Sfakia. The opening ceremony was attended by religious, regional, and cultural officials, including the Archbishop, the Regional Governor, and the Mayor of Sfakia, Giannis Zervos.
The exhibition aims to highlight the natural beauty, environmental importance, and traditions of the authentic Cretan mountain regions.
