Crete infrastructure projects receive timeline extensions
Several major infrastructure projects in Crete have received timeline extensions. The Technical Chamber of Greece has approved a new deadline for the ‘Smart Bridges of the Crete Region’ project, moving its completion date to October 31, 2026. This follows a request from the contractor to adjust the schedule for both the main project and its sub-projects.
Separately, the Crete Region has granted Domiki Kritis an extension until December 19, 2026, to complete roadworks on the Heraklion-Viannos axis. This project, which has a budget of 6,630,000 euros, aims to address soil instability caused by severe weather and natural disasters. The extension was granted because the contractor was deemed not responsible for the delays, which were attributed to the need for traffic regulations and additional works required by landslides.
