Crete Launches Integrated Mosquito Control Program

The Region of Crete announced that its Integrated Mosquito Control Program for 2026‑2028 is now underway across the entire island. The initiative is coordinated by the Directorate of Public Health of Crete and supported by the regional health and social care directorates.

Digital tools are used to keep citizens informed and involved. The e‑bite platform tracks project progress online and publishes weekly crew movement schedules for each regional unit. The Mosquito Vision mobile app provides a five‑day forecast of expected mosquito nuisance for evening (20:30‑22:30) and night hours, and lets residents report potential breeding sites and current nuisance levels.

Authorities stress that effective mosquito control requires public participation, urging residents to eliminate standing water from yards, gardens and rooftops and to follow personal protection measures.
