Crete police identify minor driver in dangerous BOAK road incident

Police have identified a minor as the driver responsible for a dangerous driving incident on the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK) in the Heraklion region. The incident, which gained significant social media attention, involved the vehicle performing illegal overtaking maneuvers and striking road dividers before being found submerged in the sea near Agiou Antoniou beach in Neapoli.

Following investigations, authorities filed charges against the minor for dangerous driving. Additionally, a 49-year-old father faces charges for neglect of supervision. The vehicle was found to belong to a 62-year-old relative and had been passed to a 59-year-old family member.

During subsequent searches of residences and farmsteads, police seized 38 cartridges, 10.2 grams of cocaine, a small amount of cannabis, two precision scales, and 1,200 euros. Three adults—aged 49, 59, and 62—were arrested for various offenses, including violations related to narcotics, weapons, and livestock theft.
