Crete police report 827 arrests in August

Police in Crete reported 827 arrests during the month of August, with domestic violence emerging as a primary driver of criminal activity. A total of 127 individuals were arrested for domestic violence cases, and authorities successfully solved 101 such incidents.

Other significant enforcement actions included 83 arrests related to narcotics and 89 arrests for health regulation violations. Law enforcement also dismantled three criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking across Lasithi, Chania, and Heraklion. Seized narcotics included approximately 16.3 kg of cannabis, 2.5 kg of cocaine, and 364 cannabis plants.

Additional arrests covered a wide range of offenses, including robbery, fraud, theft, and weapons violations. Authorities also reported solving 74 drug-related cases and 40 weapons-related cases, alongside investigations into serious sexual offenses, including two rapes and five attempted rapes.
