Crete Region manages dual priorities for European funding

The Crete Region is managing two simultaneous priorities regarding the utilization of European Union funding. The first objective is to accelerate the implementation of the current Regional Program, which has entered its second half, to ensure available resources are converted into projects and to improve absorption rates.

Concurrently, preparations are underway for the next programming period. This upcoming phase is expected to introduce structural changes and new priorities in how European funds are directed toward regional authorities. Maria Kasotaki, head of the Special Management Service of PEP Crete, described the situation as a ‘race against time’ to complete scheduled projects so that the region is in an advanced position to succeed in the next funding cycle.
