Crete Region outlines agricultural strategy for CAP 2028–2034
The Crete Region has developed a comprehensive framework of positions and demands for the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the 2028–2034 period. Following a systematic consultation process involving 32 organizations, a total of 1,199 proposals were submitted. After evaluation, 873 of these proposals—representing 73% of the total—were incorporated into the final document to address the specific needs of the local agricultural economy.
The proposal targets key production pillars including olive growing, viticulture, fruit trees, livestock, beekeeping, and vegetable farming. Additionally, the framework outlines eight horizontal strategic priorities: the modernization of rural infrastructure, energy savings, sustainable management of water and natural resources, climate crisis risk management, support for new farmers, the promotion of women in the primary sector, and the integration of technological innovation and digital tools.
