Crete Senesi cycling path project aims to connect regional territories

Local authorities from Rapolano Terme, Asciano, and Trequanda have met to discuss the development of the Ciclovia delle Crete Senesi, a strategic cycling project designed to connect the Val di Chiana, Crete Senesi, and Maremma regions.

The proposed 60-kilometer route aims to link Val di Chiana and Crete Senesi to Monte Antico and Maremma, passing through Rapolano Terme, Asciano, and Buonconvento. The project is intended to integrate into the broader regional cycling network and the planned ‘Due Mari’ route, which will connect the Arno Cycle Path with the Tyrrhenian one.

Discussions also addressed the future of the Asciano-Monte Antico railway line, focusing on sustainable mobility, the development of internal areas, and the promotion of cycle tourism. The first phase of the cycling path, covering approximately 24 kilometers between Asciano, Rapolano Terme, and Rigomagno, has already reached the executive design stage.
