Crete Senesi white truffle season shows early promise

The white truffle season in the Crete Senesi region is showing early signs of promise. Following a summer of high temperatures and heavy rain showers, Paolo Valdambrini, president of the Associazione Tartufai Senesi, expressed optimism regarding the upcoming harvest.

While definitive forecasts remain difficult, initial indications suggest the quality of the white truffles could be exceptionally high, with quantities expected to remain consistent with recent seasons. The upcoming weather conditions in the next few weeks will be critical in determining the final outcome for both volume and quality.

Preparations are currently underway for the 40th edition of the Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco delle Crete Senesi, held in San Giovanni d’Asso. The event, scheduled for the weekends of November 7-8 and 14-15, serves as a major promotion for the region's gastronomic identity and local truffle heritage. The exhibition is organized through a collaboration between the Pro Loco of San Giovanni d’Asso, the Associazione Tartufai delle Crete Senesi, the Municipality of Montalcino, and the Municipality of San Giovanni d’Asso.
