Crete teachers report unpaid September salaries

Newly appointed teachers, special education staff, and special assistant personnel under the Regional Directorate of Education of Crete have reported not receiving their salaries for the month of September.

According to workers, the issue has caused significant financial hardship, as many had already seen their unemployment benefits cease following their appointment in late August. While teachers in other parts of Greece have reportedly been paid, those specifically under the Regional Directorate of Crete remain unpaid.

Affected employees, some of whom transitioned to permanent roles after over a decade of substitute work, are requesting emergency payments by late October to cover essential living expenses, including housing and transportation.
