Crete to host 17th Minoan Route hiking event

The 17th Minoan Route hiking event is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Crete. Organized by the municipalities of Minos Pediada, Hersonissos, and Lasithi Plateau, the event aims to symbolically recreate the mythical journey of King Minos toward the Dictaean Cave.

The approximately four-hour trek begins at the Church of the Holy Cross in Ancient Lytto and concludes at the square in Psychro. The route will be marked to ensure participant safety. Upon arrival in Psychro, participants will be offered refreshments and a program featuring a dance performance by the ‘Erfalis’ Cultural and Educational Club, along with music by Stavros Fragkiadakis.

To facilitate attendance, bus transportation will be provided from several locations, including Kato Metochi, Hersonissos (Gournes), Arkalochori, and Kastelli. Return buses are scheduled to depart at 15:00.
