Hellenic Police deny reports of tourist soliciting minor in Crete
The Hellenic Police issued an official statement to clarify an incident in Agia Pelagia, Crete, following viral reports alleging a foreign tourist attempted to solicit a minor for money.
According to police findings, the reports do not match the actual events. Investigations indicate that an intoxicated foreign man approached an adult female employee at a local business and asked her to meet him. The employee refused and contacted the police after becoming frightened by the man's condition.
While preliminary evidence and security footage show the man made inappropriate gestures and comments, the investigation has found no evidence of an attempt to solicit a minor or any criminal offense committed against a child. The mother of the child present at the scene reportedly declined to file a formal complaint, as the man did not direct his behavior toward the minor. The police are submitting all collected material to the competent Prosecutor's Authority.
