Creuers Olmos faces criticism over Spanish-only tours in Ebro Delta

A controversy has emerged regarding the language used during guided cruises in the Ebro Delta. Journalist Marc Serrano i Òssul-Crusafont reported that the private company Creuers Olmos conducted all audio explanations regarding the area's history, geography, and biodiversity exclusively in Spanish.

The complaint highlights that the cruise captain is Catalan-speaking and that many passengers had booked their trips through Xanascat, a public network of hostels managed by the Generalitat of Catalonia. The tour was part of the 'Vacances en Família' program organized by the Catalan Youth Agency.

In response to the incident, several users have indicated they will file formal complaints with the Catalan Consumer Agency. The owner of Creuers Olmos, Juan Carlos Olmos, stated that the decision to use Spanish was not intended as a rejection of or disrespect toward the Catalan language.
