Criciúma revitalizes ‘Rota dos Peregrinos’ with R$ 7.5 million investment

The city of Criciúma is inaugurating the revitalization of Rua Pedro Dal Toé, a route known as the ‘Rota dos Peregrinos’ (Pilgrims' Route). The project, located in the Morro Estevão neighborhood, connects Criciúma to the Basílica Santuário Sagrado Coração Misericordioso de Jesus in Içara.

With an investment exceeding R$ 7.5 million provided by the Plata Basin Development Fund (Fonplata), the works include new asphalt paving, drainage, vertical and horizontal signaling, accessible sidewalks, and a bicycle lane. The revitalized stretch runs between the Luiz Rosso highway roundabout and the Aristides Bolan highway, also known as Via Rápida.

Mayor Vagner Espindola stated that the intervention improves safety and displacement conditions for residents, drivers, cyclists, and pilgrims. The project is part of a broader set of infrastructure and urban mobility works funded through international financing.
