Cricket Association of Bengal upgrades sports science facilities with new technology

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), led by President Sourav Ganguly, has launched a major upgrade of its sports‑science and physical‑conditioning infrastructure. The programme introduces a suite of advanced equipment—including the Catapult Workload Monitoring System, SMARTSpeed Plus wireless timing gates, ForceDecks FD Lite portable force plates, Dynamo Plus dynamometer, Vitruve velocity‑based training system and Exer‑Genie speed trainer—to monitor player movement, speed, strength and fatigue, and to support injury prevention and rehabilitation.

The investment follows a recent overhaul of CAB’s backroom staff, with strength‑and‑conditioning coaches and physiotherapists appointed through a transparent shortlisting process coordinated by the Centre of Excellence and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The data‑driven approach aims to enhance player development, optimise training loads for fast bowlers and other cricketers, and modernise Bengal’s cricket infrastructure overall.
