Cricket Association of Nepal considers DRS for Nepal Premier League

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is evaluating the potential introduction of the Decision Review System (DRS) for the upcoming third season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). This move follows significant controversy regarding umpiring accuracy during the league's first two seasons, where players and supporters raised concerns over disputed LBW, catch, and no-ball decisions.

CAN Secretary Paras Khadka stated that the association has tested technology from two different companies and is currently assessing their accuracy and effectiveness. While a full-scale system comparable to those used in World Cups requires substantial resources, Khadka indicated that CAN is in favor of implementing a reliable system suitable for the domestic league if the technology proves dependable.

In addition to technological updates, the NPL is preparing for increased international interest. High-profile overseas players, including David Warner, Jimmy Neesham, Shakib Al Hasan, Sikandar Raza, and Charith Asalanka, have been confirmed for the season. Furthermore, the process of obtaining official sanction from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the league is reportedly in its final stages.
