Cricket Russia launches T10 League to develop domestic sport

The Russian Cricket Federation (Cricket Russia) has launched the Russian T10 League, a two-day tournament held on September 19 and 20 at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The event features four teams: the Moscow Foxes, Kremlin Stars, Kazan Falcons, and St. Petersburg Lions, with a total of 60 players participating across seven matches.

This tournament represents Russia's first structured domestic cricket calendar using the T10 format. It is designed to include local Russian players, expatriate communities, and the South Asian diaspora to foster talent development. The league serves as the initial step of the Russia Cricket Development Initiative, which aims to establish cricket as a mainstream sport with professional infrastructure and a competitive national team.

Sambhav Jain, director of the Russian Cricket Federation, stated that the tournament is part of a wider vision to attract new audiences and create development opportunities. The initiative arrives ahead of the sport's return to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
