Cricket West Indies appoints Bob Carter as batting consultant
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed veteran New Zealand coach Bob Carter as its batting consultant on an initial one-year contract. Carter officially assumed his role on September 1, 2026.
Carter will oversee batting development across CWI’s men’s, women’s, and age-group programmes. His mandate includes providing technical support to players and enhancing the ability of regional coaches to design effective batting programmes. His first assignment involves a regional tour later this month across the six first-class territories: Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands, and the Windward Islands.
Carter brings over three decades of elite coaching experience, including serving as High-Performance Coach with New Zealand Cricket from 2012 to 2025 and head coach of the New Zealand women’s team from 2019 to 2022. He also previously held a senior administrative role at Northamptonshire in England. The appointment is intended to strengthen the regional coaching framework ahead of major upcoming events, such as the Men’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in early 2027.
