Cricket West Indies convenes high-performance camp for U19 women

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has convened a two-week high-performance camp in Antigua for 22 promising young female cricketers. The camp, which runs from August 17 to August 29, serves as a preparatory step for the 2027 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Selection for the camp followed the recently concluded Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship. The cohort includes seven players from Trinidad and Tobago, five from Barbados—including leading run-scorer Eboni Brathwaite—two each from the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands, two from Jamaica, and two from Guyana, including Danielle Manns and Allia Henry.

CWI High-Performance Manager Dwain Gill stated that the immediate transition from regional competition to a high-performance environment was intentional to build on player potential and address critical areas for international progression. The program focuses on technical, tactical, physical, and mental development, led by senior women’s assistant coach Ryan Austin, former wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich, and West Indies Academy head coach Ramesh Subasinghe.
