Cricklade residents mourn pet shop owner killed in crash
Hundreds of residents gathered in Cricklade, Wiltshire, to attend the funeral of Barbara Mullaney, a beloved pet shop owner. Ms. Mullaney, who ran the Animal Fayre shop—locally known as ‘Aunty Barbara’s’—for over 30 years, died following a collision on June 30 near Royal Wootton Bassett.
Anthony Howells, 43, has been charged with her murder. He also faces charges of dangerous driving, driving without insurance, failing to stop after a road accident, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. Howells is scheduled to appear before Bristol Crown Court next month.
Mourners, some accompanied by their dogs, lined the high street to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passed the pet shop before proceeding to the North Wiltshire Crematorium.
