Criggion WWII radio station put up for sale
The Criggion site, a former Second World War radio station known as Shortwave A, has been placed on the market for £495,000. Located near Welshpool on the Powys-Shropshire border, the property was originally part of a transmitter complex operated by the Ministry of Defence and served as a backup facility for the Rugby Radio Station under the call sign GBZ.
Following its closure in 2003, the site was managed by BT on behalf of the Ministry of Defence before being converted into commercial premises. The current property includes a large open-plan workshop, modern office accommodations, storage areas, and staff welfare facilities. The sale includes the freehold interest, a secure yard, parking, and additional land that may allow for further development subject to planning permission.
