Crime and fraud incidents reported in Czech Republic and Greece
Multiple criminal incidents have been reported across different regions. In Liberec, Czech Republic, a 23-year-old foreign national was detained by police after acting as a courier for an investment fraud scheme. The suspect was caught after a woman, who had already handed over two million CZK, contacted investigators before a fourth scheduled payment of 400,000 CZK could be made.
In the same region, a high-speed chase involving a driver reaching 175 km/h ended when the vehicle hit a dead end. The driver, who was under a driving ban and tested positive for drugs, was apprehended by customs officers. Additionally, an attempted murder investigation is underway in Liberec following a violent conflict at Casino Babylon, where a visitor seriously injured an employee.
In Jablonec nad Nisou, a pedestrian died after being struck by a reversing delivery van. Meanwhile, in Greece, an Austrian tourist reported being defrauded on the island of Rhodes. After purchasing a necklace for 5,000 EUR under the impression it contained tanzanite, experts in Austria and Switzerland valued the piece at no more than 400 EUR.
