Crime and safety concerns reported in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh

In Rajsamand, Rajasthan, masked criminals broke into a home in the Khandel ki Chhur settlement around 1:30 AM to rob a 90-year-old woman. The attackers forcibly snatched gold jewelry from her neck and ears, causing severe injuries to the woman's ear. The family was alerted by her cries, prompting the suspects to flee through the back of the house. Local police from the Kuwariya station have launched an investigation to locate the perpetrators.

In Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, a report indicates that many of the ‘pink booths’ established to enhance women's safety have become inactive. Out of approximately 20 booths created two years ago to provide assistance through female police personnel, more than 15 are reportedly non-functional or locked. In some instances, home guards have been observed using these booths for traffic control duties instead of the intended purpose of providing a dedicated space for women to seek help.
