Riyadh factory fire kills 16 Bangladeshi migrant workers

A severe fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has resulted in the deaths of at least 16 Bangladeshi migrant workers. The blaze occurred at an unlicensed facility in the Musa Sanaiya industrial area, according to Saudi Civil Defense.

The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “deep shock” over the incident. The government has instructed officials to expedite the repatriation of the deceased and ensure that families receive necessary assistance and compensation.

The tragedy has renewed international scrutiny regarding the safety and rights of migrant workers in the Gulf region. Human rights organizations have highlighted persistent concerns over unsafe working conditions and a lack of transparency in industrial accidents involving foreign laborers.
