Crime increases reported in Citilcum and Ixtapaluca

Residents in several Mexican communities are reporting an increase in criminal activity, including thefts from homes and religious institutions.

In Citilcum, Izamal, the Oxté-Baas family reported that thieves broke into their home while they were attending a religious mass for the Santo Cristo de la Exaltación. The intruders forced entry and stole a significant amount of gold jewelry. Local neighbors have expressed concern and are calling for increased police patrols to address rising crime rates in the area.

In Ixtapaluca, residents reported the theft of a church bell from the Señor de la Agonía parish in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. Surveillance footage captured three individuals arriving in a truck and scaling a wall to reach the bell tower. Additionally, an armed robbery occurred at a mobile phone store in the Plaza Sendero Ixtapaluca shopping center, where suspects fled with various electronic devices. Community members are urging municipal authorities to reinforce local surveillance.
