Crime spikes in Mexico, Argentina and Córdoba reported

Crimes against personal liberty in Mexico rose 50% in the first four months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, according to data from the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública. The increase amounted to 13,966 victims, with the State of Mexico reporting the highest number of cases (2,169) and Colima having the highest rate per 100,000 inhabitants.

In Argentina, former judge Daniel Cesari Hernández warned that digital fraud schemes are proliferating, urging the public to avoid clicking on suspicious links in email, WhatsApp and social‑media messages. He highlighted that ordinary citizens—particularly seniors—are the main victims of these online scams.

In Córdoba, officials recorded a robbery roughly every 15 hours from January to May 2026, totalling 247 incidents. Robberies of businesses were the most common, followed by vehicle thefts and street robberies. Overall, six crime categories—including injuries, threats, fraud, property damage and homicides—accounted for 679 victims during the period.
