Crimea residents face increasing hardships under Russian occupation

Residents in Russian-occupied Crimea are facing increasingly difficult living conditions as the effects of the ongoing war become more visible across the peninsula. The region, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, is experiencing regular Ukrainian bombardments, rising prices, and frequent shortages of electricity, water, and fuel.

In areas such as Dzhankoi, residents report living under constant threat from drone strikes targeting electrical substations and infrastructure. These strikes have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to residential buildings, shops, and transport hubs. The once-popular Black Sea tourist destination is now characterized by an atmosphere of uncertainty and a growing trend of population displacement.
