Criminal charges filed in separate sexual assault cases in US and Australia

In New Jersey, John Kane, a 39-year-old former head wrestling coach at Newark Academy, faces multiple charges related to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old. Prosecutors allege Kane contacted the teenager via Grindr and Snapchat before picking them up in a vehicle. The incident reportedly occurred in a parking lot at St. Barnabas Medical Center. Kane is charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Newark Academy confirmed his employment ended earlier this summer.

In Australia, three 17-year-old boys are in custody following allegations of a gang rape involving a 17-year-old girl in the Macarthur region. Prosecutors claim the attack was organized via text messages after the group attended a football match and a pub. Two of the accused are students at St Gregory’s College. The victim is reported to have suffered life-altering physical and mental injuries. The identities of the minors involved are being protected due to their age.
