Criminal court proceedings for men in Northern Ireland and Ireland
In separate legal developments, two men are facing court proceedings in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Conor McManus, 30, of Enniskillen, has been returned to the Crown Court for trial following a committal hearing at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court. McManus faces multiple charges, including eight counts of possessing indecent images of children, two counts of making such images, three counts of sexual communication with a child, and one count of intentionally encouraging a child to engage in sexual communication. The alleged offences occurred between December 2022 and September 2024. He has been remanded on £500 bail and is prohibited from contacting anyone under 18 outside of his employment. He is scheduled to appear at Dungannon Crown Court on October 13.
In Ireland, Seamus Cooley, 51, appeared via video link from Castlerea Prison before the Letterkenny District Court. Cooley, who was previously sentenced to four years in prison for an attack on a teenage woman, faces additional assault charges, including an alleged assault on a Garda in Lifford. During the hearing, Cooley attempted to address the court, but his audio was muted by staff. The case has been adjourned until October.
