Criminal court proceedings involve assault and domestic violence charges

In separate legal proceedings, two men faced court for violent offenses.

In Australia, Judge Sally McLaughlin terminated a video link during a sentencing hearing for Hohepapaora Waihape-Vincent, a New Zealand national. Waihape-Vincent, who pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, property damage, and breaching a domestic violence order, mimicked a throat-cutting gesture on camera after expressing indifference toward the proceedings. The judge noted his need for supervision before his potential return to New Zealand.

In Northern Ireland, 21-year-old Corey Devlin appeared before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court facing charges of causing actual bodily harm to a male, assaulting a woman, and damaging a door at Ma Quinns bar in Cookstown. Devlin pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has been released on bail with conditions prohibiting contact with the complainants and restricting him from the vicinity of the bar.
