Criminal groups use impersonation tactics to carry out robberies in Honduras and Colombia

Criminal groups in Honduras and Colombia are utilizing impersonation and deception to carry out high-value robberies.

In San Pedro Sula, Honduras, suspects have been using fake package deliveries to gain entry into homes. Once residents open their doors, armed and hooded men storm the premises to steal jewelry and valuables. Authorities have arrested 42-year-old Marvin Joel Pineda Girón, known as “Carrión,” in connection with these raids. Police seized firearms and jewelry identified by victims during the investigation.

In Santander, Colombia, a group of individuals dressed as police officers and investigators staged a fake accident and checkpoint on the road between Girón and Palonegro airport. The group intercepted a vehicle carrying merchants from Medellín, intimidated them with firearms, and stole 13 silver ingots weighing approximately 34 kilograms. The stolen silver is valued at roughly 260 million pesos.
