Various criminal cases and judicial rulings across Latin America
Multiple legal proceedings and criminal incidents have been reported across several Latin American countries, involving various offenses including sexual abuse, homicide, and domestic violence.
In Uruguay, a 17-year-old adolescent was sentenced to six years of detention in an Inisa facility after admitting to acting as a hitman in a quintuple homicide in the El Monarca neighborhood of Montevideo. The attack, which targeted the Los Suárez family, resulted in five deaths.
In Costa Rica, a man received a 36-year prison sentence after admitting to sexual abuse, rape, and sexual acts with a minor against his stepdaughter between 2013 and 2025. In Colombia, sports journalist Ricardo Orrego Arboleda declared his innocence following charges of sexual harassment and violent sexual acts involving five women.
Other regional reports include a 14-year prison sentence for aggravated rape in Mexico, a four-year sentence for a man in Argentina who threatened neighbors with a machete, and a case in Spain where a man was acquitted of sexual assault due to a flawed photographic identification process. In the Dominican Republic, authorities are investigating the murder of a taxi driver, noting that the 17-year-old suspect faces a maximum of eight years under juvenile law.
