Jhonsson Smit Cruz Torres, known as ‘Jhonsson Pulpo’, the leader of the criminal organization ‘Los Pulpos’, has been transferred to Lima following his capture in La Paz, Bolivia. Cruz Torres, who was one of Peru's most wanted criminals with a 500,000 soles reward, is currently held under heavy security at the Dircote headquarters in Lima for a 15-day preliminary detention period.

Cruz Torres is being investigated for several serious crimes, including the recent kidnapping and quadruple murder of businessman Jenss Lara Tantaquilla in Trujillo. He also carries a prior life sentence for a 2020 robbery-murder in Trujillo. Along with him, Gabriel Alexander Mendocilla Gómez was also apprehended in Bolivia and remains in custody.

Authorities are evaluating high-security facilities for his eventual transfer, with options including the Callao Naval Base or the Challapalca prison. While his capture is a significant blow to ‘Los Pulpos’, experts warn that the organization may attempt to reorganize or face internal power struggles.
