Los Rusos criminal group targeted in Mexican arrests and shootouts

Mexican authorities have conducted several high-profile operations against organized crime groups in the southern and western regions of the country.

In Guerrero, the State Attorney General's Office announced the arrest of Jorge Luis ‘N’, known as ‘El Choco,’ in Acapulco. He is identified as a suspected plaza boss for Los Rusos, an armed faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. His arrest follows an investigation into a homicide that occurred on August 21 in the Las Playas neighborhood.

In Oaxaca, a confrontation in San Juan Cacahuatepec resulted in the deaths of four members of Los Rusos, including a regional leader identified as Eduardo, alias ‘El 09.’ Authorities stated that tactical units were ambushed while conducting investigations, leading to the shootout. The group is reportedly active in several municipalities across Oaxaca and Guerrero.

In Chihuahua, a separate operation in the municipality of Bocoyna led to the death of Iván Manjarrez, alias ‘El Roy’ or ‘El 19.’ He was identified as a leader of the ‘Los H’ organization. The confrontation between investigators and criminal elements resulted in injuries to two agents and two civilians.
