Paramount+ to end Criminal Minds: Evolution with season 20

Paramount+ has confirmed that the long-running crime procedural Criminal Minds: Evolution will conclude with its 20th season. The final episodes are expected to premiere in 2027, marking the end of a franchise that has spanned two decades.

The series originally debuted on CBS in 2005 and ran for 15 seasons before being revived for streaming in 2022. The upcoming season will feature returning cast members including Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster, alongside RJ Hatanaka.

Showrunner Erica Messer expressed gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans, noting that the decision to end the series was sudden. Some cast members, including Kirsten Vangsness, reported being informed of the cancellation only shortly before it became public. While the series remains a top title on the platform, reports suggest the decision may involve production costs and the challenges of maintaining a broadcast-style procedural on a streaming service.
