Criminal proceedings begin for Swiss double murder and fatal child stabbing in Austria

A trial has commenced in Bülach, Switzerland, for a 74-year-old man, Ivan T., accused of the February 2025 double murder of his wife, Vesna T., and their 49-year-old daughter, Sanja M. Prosecutors state the victims were killed with over 210 knife wounds. Due to a psychiatric report citing advanced dementia, the defendant has been deemed not criminally responsible. Consequently, the prosecution is seeking his placement in a secure facility rather than a prison sentence.

In a separate incident in Kumberg, Austria, a 37-year-old man has confessed to the killing of his eight-year-old daughter. The man reportedly attacked the child with a kitchen knife following an argument with his partner. After an initial suicide attempt, the suspect was deemed fit for questioning and has been transferred to a judicial institution. Investigations into the family's circumstances and the domestic environment are ongoing.
