Criminal proceedings in Mexico and Spain involve sexual assault and drug trafficking
In Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, an initial hearing is proceeding against Miguel Ángel C. R., a regional manager accused of aggravated sexual assault. The victim, identified by the pseudonym Lourdes, alleges the attack occurred at a Modatelas branch in Gran Patio while she was on duty. Following the incident, the victim and her family reported receiving pressure from company personnel and lawyers to reach an out-of-court settlement, with claims that the defendant had the financial means to ‘buy justice’ and secure his release.
In Spain, the Audiencia Nacional has sentenced Galician drug trafficker José Ramón Prado Bugallo, known as ‘Sito Miñanco’, to 17 years in prison. The sentence relates to ‘Operación Mito’ and an attempt in 2017 to transport approximately four tons of cocaine into Europe. Bugallo received 12 years for drug trafficking and five years for money laundering, alongside fines exceeding 420 million euros. The court acquitted lawyer Gonzalo Boye of money laundering and falsification charges, finding no evidence of his involvement in the creation of private contracts used to justify intercepted funds.
