Criminal sentencing and arrests reported in Mexico and Chile

In Mexico, the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) secured a sentence of two years and ten months in prison for Miguel “N” in Tabasco. The individual was arrested by State Police in the Nueva Villahermosa neighborhood of Centro for the illegal possession of a firearm reserved for the use of the Armed Forces. Authorities also seized a firearm, a magazine, and 16 live cartridges.

In Chile, a second suspect, identified by the initials M. A. R. S., has been detained in connection with an attack on a police officer in Antofagasta. The incident occurred on August 12 during a police control operation, leaving a Carabinero seriously injured. Due to existing convictions for vehicle theft and illegal firearm possession, the magistrate ordered the suspect to be sent directly to prison to serve his previous sentences while facing new charges of attempted homicide and illegal weapon possession.
