Verón-Punta Cana: Suspect in Nagua murder death following police encounter

Carlos Daniel Alcequiez Rodríguez, known as “Carlos El Menol,” died after a confrontation with the National Police in the Residencial Lantigua sector of Verón-Punta Cana. According to preliminary reports, police officers were attacked with gunfire while conducting investigative work, prompting them to return fire. Alcequiez Rodríguez was wounded during the exchange and later died at the Verón Municipal Hospital.

The 25-year-old was wanted under an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in the death of 23-year-old Anderson Santos Rodríguez, known as “Vaguito.” Santos Rodríguez’s body was discovered buried in a 1.5-meter deep hole in the Nagua province, wrapped in a tarp. Investigations suggest the homicide stemmed from a dispute involving RD$200 related to the sale of controlled substances.

Authorities recovered a 9mm Glock pistol at the scene. Another individual, Brayan Cius, is already in custody for his alleged connection to the Nagua murder.
