Crin Antonescu criticizes Ilie Bolojan and political shifts in PNL

Former National Liberal Party (PNL) leader Crin Antonescu has publicly admitted that his previous political assessment of Ilie Bolojan was incorrect. Antonescu stated in an interview that while he once considered Bolojan a serious candidate suitable for leading the PNL, he has since radically changed his opinion due to Bolojan's political evolution and ideological shifts.

Antonescu further criticized the current direction of the PNL, suggesting the party is effectively dissolving into the Save Romania Union (USR). He leveled harsh accusations against Bolojan and Dominic Fritz, alleging that their actions in Brussels—specifically regarding legal matters and seeking sanctions—amount to a betrayal of national interests. Antonescu argued that such maneuvers damage Romania's international image and economic stability for the sake of personal power and control over judicial institutions.
