Crismery Santana seeks return to Olympic weightlifting elite

Dominican weightlifter Crismery Santana is working to return to her elite competitive form following a series of physical setbacks. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist has faced significant challenges, including a serious left elbow injury sustained during the 2019 Pan American Games and a stress fracture in her tibia that hindered her preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In addition to physical injuries, Santana has had to adapt to international weight category reorganizations. During the Paris Olympics, she competed in the over 81kg category, finishing ninth with a total of 258kg, a result that fell short of her previous podium performance.
