Cristela Georgescu addresses family finances amid legal proceedings
Cristela Georgescu, wife of former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, has addressed questions regarding her family's financial resources following the seizure of her husband's bank accounts by DIICOT. In an interview on the ‘Marius Tucă Show’, she stated that the family relies on her personal savings accumulated during her time in executive positions.
Georgescu defended the legality of their assets, noting that her own accounts remain unblocked as she holds no legal standing in the ongoing case. She emphasized that certain assets, such as their home, are common property and argued that her husband's rights to private property must be respected.
Călin Georgescu is currently in preventive arrest, facing accusations from DIICOT of defrauding a businessman of over 1.1 million euros. Previous discrepancies in his wealth declarations were attributed to unintentional errors and a lack of knowledge regarding reporting obligations.
